Ouachita Hills Academy, located in Amity, Arkansas, accepted its first students in the fall of 1988. Located on 381 acres in southwest Arkansas, the campus is a beehive of activity in the midst of a beautiful natural setting.
New facilities continue to be added to the campus. Presently under construction are a classroom/administration building and a boys’ dormitory. These projects provide excellent opportunities for our young men to develop skills in construction, a requirement for graduation.
Ouachita Hills provides students the opportunity to participate in a strong academic program while being in a spiritually nurturing environment. The average ACT scores of OHA students over the past 5 years were higher than the average score of any state in the nation. We believe that these scores are especially significant since the academy provides no formal ACT or SAT preparation. What then can be the explanation? The answer lies in the application of the Lord’s counsel on education: the combination of vocational training and study, the discarding of works of fiction and those of infidel authors, and the emphasis on personal spiritual growth and knowledge of the Bible.
Students are immersed in the study of the Scriptures not only in classes, worships, chapels, and Weeks of Prayer but also as they participate in mission trips during which they preach and conduct children’s meetings in full scale evangelistic crusades. Since 1998 students have been conducting evangelistic crusades in countries such as the Philippines, Siberia, Thailand, India, Ghana, the Ukraine, Russia, Romania, Bulgaria, and Brazil.
Godly music also plays a part of OHA. Besides the all school choir, students have the opportunity to participate in a small touring choir, the Ringers of Hope bell choir, and the EASEA Music Festival.
OHA exists for only one purpose: to help develop strong Christians who love the Lord and are prepared to serve Him. Whether it be music, mission trips, classes, or devotional periods, the focus is on personal growth and preparation for a lifetime of service.
